Planned servicing
Most of the emergencies we attend were preventable, and the owner would have paid far less to prevent them. Here is exactly what a planned visit covers, so you can judge whether it is worth it rather than take our word for it.
For homes
Heat pumps and HVAC systems lose efficiency quietly. A system running on a low charge or a dirty coil still heats the house — it just costs more every month while it wears itself out.
Annual
1 visit a year
Booked before the heating season
- Full system service and safety check
- Coils cleaned, filters checked
- Refrigerant charge verified
- Electrical connections and controls
- Written record of what was found
Twice yearly
2 visits a year
Heating season and cooling season
- Everything in the annual plan, twice
- Checked for heating, then for cooling
- Condensate drain cleared
- Defrost cycle verified
- Priority scheduling for repairs
Multi-zone
2 visits a year
For ductless systems with several heads
- Everything in the twice-yearly plan
- Every indoor head serviced, not just one
- Blower wheels checked for mould
- Each zone's controls verified
- Priority scheduling for repairs
What a home visit actually covers
Not a look and a sticker. This is the list.
- Indoor and outdoor coils inspected and cleaned
- Refrigerant charge checked against superheat and subcooling
- Filters inspected, and replaced or rinsed
- Condensate drain cleared and tested
- Electrical connections, contactors and capacitors
- Blower wheel and airflow
- Defrost cycle operation
- Thermostat and control calibration
- Outdoor unit clearance and mounting
- A written record of what was found
For commercial refrigeration
The frequency that suits you depends on the environment. A greasy kitchen loads a condenser far faster than a dry storeroom does, and the condenser is where most failures start.
Twice yearly
2 visits a year
A sensible minimum for most sites
- Full refrigeration service per box
- Condenser and evaporator cleaned
- Defrost system verified
- Doors, gaskets and closers
- Written service record
Quarterly
4 visits a year
Busy kitchens and grocery
- Everything in the twice-yearly plan
- Condenser cleaning before it matters
- Controls and sensors recalibrated
- Temperature records reviewed
- Priority emergency scheduling
Scheduled
Built to the site
Multi-site and higher-risk operations
- Frequency set per box, not per site
- Monthly options where stock value justifies it
- Reporting across all locations
- Agreed response arrangements
- Priority emergency scheduling
What a refrigeration visit actually covers
- Condenser coil cleaned and airflow checked
- Evaporator inspected, cleaned and cleared of ice
- Defrost cycle timed and verified end to end
- Drain line cleared, heaters tested
- Refrigerant charge checked and leak inspection
- Compressor operation, pressures and amperage
- Fan motors on both coils
- Door gaskets, hinges, closers and sweeps
- Controls and temperature sensors calibrated
- A written service record for your files
Is a plan worth it?
Honestly, not for everyone. If you have one newer system in a clean environment and you are happy to call when something goes wrong, a one-off service when you think of it is perfectly reasonable.
A plan earns its cost when:
- Downtime costs you money the same day, not just comfort
- You hold stock that a warm box would destroy
- You keep temperature records someone else inspects
- The equipment lives somewhere greasy, dusty or exposed
- You would rather a known cost than an unpredictable one
We will tell you on the phone if we think you do not need one. That conversation costs nothing.
Pricing
What a plan costs depends on the equipment, how many boxes or zones there are, and how often it needs attention. There is no honest single number to publish, so we would rather quote properly than advertise a figure that will not hold.
Call and tell us what is installed. You will get a figure, not a sales process.
A one-time repair never needs a plan, and most of our calls are exactly that.
Tell us what is installed.
How many systems, what kind, and where. We will tell you what servicing it actually needs and what that costs.
