Walk-in warming up? Freezer icing over?

Commercial and industrial refrigeration — walk-in coolers and freezers, condensing units, evaporators and controls. Refrigeration failures are covered on the 24/7 line, because a warm box is a deadline, not an inconvenience.

Box warming? Ring it now.

Refrigeration failures are answered at any hour, any day. Do not send a form for a breakdown — it is not monitored overnight.

Coolers and freezers

They look alike and they are not. A freezer carries roughly twice the load of a cooler the same size, and its defrost system is the thing most likely to fail.

Installation, replacement and repair for restaurants, grocery, bakeries and food production. Around +2 to +4 °C.

Walk-in freezers

Installation, replacement and repair, including the defrost faults and iced coils that make up most freezer callouts. Around −18 to −23 °C.

Tell us what it is doing

Most refrigeration calls start with one of these. You do not need to diagnose it — describing the symptom on the phone is enough for us to arrive with the right parts.

  • The box will not hold temperature

It pulls down overnight but climbs through the day, or it never reaches setpoint at all. Usually a refrigerant charge problem, a dirty condenser, or a control that has drifted.

  • Ice on the coil, ceiling or floor

Ice means the defrost cycle is not clearing, or warm wet air is getting in. Left alone it blocks airflow and the box warms up anyway.

  • The compressor runs non-stop

A unit that never cycles off is working against something — a leak, a blocked condenser, a failed contactor. It is also quietly running up your power bill.

  • Short cycling

Starting and stopping every few minutes is hard on a compressor and it is the failure most likely to turn into a replacement if it is left.

  • Water on the floor, or a frozen drain

A blocked or frozen condensate line backs up into the box. It is a slip hazard before it is a refrigeration problem.

  • The door will not seal

Torn gaskets, a dropped hinge, a frame that sweats. The cheapest repair on this list and the one that wastes the most energy when it is ignored.

  • Noise, rattling, or a tripping breaker

Fan motors, contactors and compressors all announce themselves before they fail. A breaker that will not reset is a call to make today.

  • Temperature logs failing

If your records are drifting out of range before anyone notices a problem, the controls and sensors are worth checking before an inspection finds it first.

Is the box still warming?

Refrigeration failures are covered on the 24/7 emergency line. Call 672-762-7877 rather than sending an online request — the request form is not monitored overnight. If you can, move product to a working box or get it on ice before we arrive.

Who we do this for

Refrigeration is where downtime turns into money fastest. A walk-in that fails on a Friday night is a weekend of spoiled stock, not a Monday morning service call.

  • Restaurants, cafés and commercial kitchens
  • Grocery and convenience retail
  • Food storage, prep and distribution
  • Industrial and process facilities
  • Strata and building amenity spaces

Regular servicing is cheaper than emergency callouts. Membership plans add scheduled maintenance and priority response — a one-time repair never needs one.

Sizing a new cooler or freezer?

Work out roughly what capacity a box needs before you talk to anyone — box size, temperature, door traffic and what you are putting in it.

Estimate a walk-in cooling load

A starting point for the conversation, not a design. Real equipment gets a site visit.

A recent job

A Copeland compressor and filter drier on a refrigeration condensing unit. Nameplate data like this tells us the refrigerant, the capacity and the age of the system before any tools come out — which is why we ask you to photograph it when you call.

Questions we get on the phone

My walk-in is warming up right now. What do I do first?

Call 672-762-7877. Then keep the door shut, move what you can to a working box or ice, and check that the condenser is not blocked. Do not keep opening the door to check the temperature — use the controller readout.

Should I repair this unit or replace it?

It usually comes down to the refrigerant, the cost of the repair against a new unit, and how many times it has failed already. Our repair or replace guide walks through the same questions we ask on site.

Do you work on residential refrigeration too?

Yes. Alongside commercial and industrial work we handle residential systems, including wine rooms, basement cold storage and appliance refrigeration.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. InFlow Mechanical is licensed and insured, WorkSafeBC registered and carries commercial general liability insurance. Certificates are available on request for commercial, property management and strata clients.

Where do you work?

Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Delta, Langley, North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Squamish. Call and tell us where the site is.
