HVAC and refrigeration in West Vancouver
Larger homes, steeper lots and a lot of glass. Heat pumps, multi-zone systems, furnaces and refrigeration across West Vancouver, with heating failures covered on the 24/7 line.
What West Vancouver homes need
West Vancouver's housing stock is older and larger than most of the region, and that combination changes the mechanical answer considerably.
Glazing is the defining feature. The view homes along the waterfront and up the slope were built with enormous window areas, often single or early double glazing. Glass is where the heat goes in winter and where it arrives in summer. A sizing calculation that treats these houses as floor area alone will be wrong — sometimes badly.
Sprawling layouts need zoning. Large single-storey and split-level homes rarely behave as one thermal space. Wings that face different directions warm and cool at different rates, and a single thermostat somewhere in the middle satisfies none of them. This is where multi-zone earns its cost rather than just adding it.
Older heating plant. A number of homes here still run original or long-since-replaced systems, some of them well past the point where another repair is good money. The refrigerant on the nameplate usually settles that question.
Things that come up here more than elsewhere
-
Summer overheating
South and west-facing glass turns a mild afternoon into an uncomfortable room. Cooling is often the reason people call, not heating.
-
Rooms that never match
Large homes with wings facing different directions. One thermostat cannot serve them, and no amount of capacity fixes that.
-
Difficult access
Long driveways, steep lots and properties where the obvious equipment location is the one you can see from the living room.
-
Ageing systems
Equipment old enough that the refrigerant decides the repair-or-replace question before cost even comes into it.
Ambleside, Dundarave and Park Royal
The restaurants and food retail along Marine Drive, through Ambleside and Dundarave, and around Park Royal all depend on refrigeration that has to keep working through a service.
We cover walk-in coolers and freezers, condensing units and compressors, evaporators, defrost faults, door and gasket repairs, controls and monitoring, plus the the mechanical plant conditioning the room.
Refrigeration failures are on the 24/7 line because a warm box is a deadline, not an inconvenience.

Questions West Vancouver callers ask
My house gets unbearable in summer. Can a heat pump fix that?
Yes — a heat pump is air conditioning as well as heating, and in a house with large glazing that is often the more valuable half. Sizing has to account for the glass properly, which is the part rule-of-thumb quotes miss.
Some rooms are always wrong. Is that a capacity problem?
Usually not. It is normally a zoning or airflow problem, and adding capacity makes it worse rather than better. Our zone planner explains how the areas get divided.
My system is old. Repair or replace?
Start with the refrigerant on the nameplate — on older equipment it is often the whole answer. Our repair or replace guide works through the same questions we ask on site.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. InFlow Mechanical is licensed and insured, WorkSafeBC registered and carries commercial general liability insurance. Certificates are available on request for commercial and strata clients.
