HVAC and refrigeration in North Vancouver
This is where we are based — our office is on 23rd Street West. Heat pumps, mini-splits, furnaces and walk-in refrigeration across the North Shore, with heating and refrigeration failures covered on the 24/7 line.
What North Vancouver homes need
Most of North Vancouver's housing stock went up between the 1950s and the 1980s, and a great deal of it was built with electric baseboard heating and no cooling at all. That is the single biggest heat pump opportunity on the North Shore: the running cost falls sharply, and you get summer cooling the house has never had.
The slope changes the job. From Lower Lonsdale up to Edgemont and Deep Cove, a lot of properties sit on grade changes that decide where an outdoor unit can physically go, how the lines get routed, and whether equipment can be carried in at all. It is worth looking at before quoting rather than after.
Trees are a real factor here. More greenery than most of the region means more needles, leaves and debris in outdoor coils. Condensers on the North Shore need cleaning more often than the manuals assume, and a blocked coil is the cheapest fault we get called to.
Lower Lonsdale towers are a different problem again — newer, better sealed, and usually a strata conversation before a mechanical one.
Things that come up here more than elsewhere
-
Baseboards everywhere
Decades of electric resistance heating across the North Shore. It is the conversion with the clearest payback, and the one the rebate programmes treat most generously.
-
Access and grade
Steep driveways, split levels and homes cut into a slope. Where the equipment can go, and how it gets there, shapes the design.
-
Debris in the coils
Needles, leaves and moss. A condenser that nobody has cleaned in three years is doing a fraction of the work it should.
-
Damp and mild
A wet, mild winter is easy on a heat pump and hard on anything left outdoors untended. Defrost behaviour matters more here than people expect.
Lonsdale, Marine Drive and the business parks
The restaurant strips along Lonsdale and Marine Drive, the grocers, and the light industrial units across the lower North Shore all run refrigeration that only gets attention when it stops.
We cover walk-in coolers and freezers, condensing units and compressors, evaporators, defrost faults, door and gasket repairs, controls and monitoring — alongside the the heating and cooling plant that conditions the space itself.
Being based here means the North Shore is the shortest trip we make.
Before you get a quote
Four free calculators, no email required — heat pump sizing, running cost at current BC rates, ductless zone planning and walk-in load.
The running-cost tool publishes the BC Hydro and FortisBC rates it uses, so you can check it rather than trust it.
Questions North Vancouver callers ask
Where exactly are you based?
116 23rd Street West, North Vancouver. The North Shore is our home ground, and it is the shortest trip we make.
My house is all baseboards. Is a heat pump worth it?
On running cost alone, yes — this is the conversion with the clearest payback of any in home energy. Our running-cost comparison shows the numbers at current BC Hydro rates, with the rates published so you can check them.
My driveway is steep. Is that a problem?
It is a design question rather than a dealbreaker. Grade affects where the outdoor unit sits, how lines are routed and how equipment gets in. We would rather look at it before quoting than discover it on installation day.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. InFlow Mechanical is licensed and insured, WorkSafeBC registered and carries commercial general liability insurance. Certificates are available on request for commercial and strata clients.
Tell us about the property.
Call and describe the building and what is wrong, or what you are planning. We will tell you what it takes.
